A penciled page sample shows DC's Batman defeating Solomon Grundy using a gadget resembling a sleeping gas bomb. The bomb swiftly explodes with the gas seemingly disorienting Grundy, giving Batman enough time to use his grappling hook, knock him out, and tie him up. Not long after, Superman shows up to greet his colleague maybe indicating he was waiting for him to finish with the villain's apprehension. This page sample is based on the stories the famous duo has had together in the DC's title Superman/Batman which explores their adventures, collaborations, friendship, and mutual respect. One of the characters' agreements between them is that Superman shouldn't interfere with Batman's crusade against Gotham's various menaces. The scene of this sample would typically take place before a new adventure where the two would join forces. This page could be the last sequence of a 3 to 4-page opening before the story's progress to the main adventure.

Solomon Grundy was a corrupt man named Cyrus Gold until his untimely death in Slaughter Swamp. Since then, his entire existence has been an unending cycle of death and rebirth. When Grundy dies, he eventually rises again (with various levels of strength and intelligence), emerging from the depths of his original resting place in the swamp to wreak havoc on the living. Although primarily evil, some of his incarnations have shown the capacity for heroism.
