What makes graphic tablets so unique that they surpass our old computer mouse in many aspects?

Firstly, the ease of use of the pen with various graphics programs such as Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, PaintShop Pro, Corel Painter, Adobe Illustrator, Corel Draw. The mouse does not feel as comfortable and good in the artistic field as a pen with a tablet. At least, I have never met a person who knows how to draw with a mouse so superbly.

Secondly, with a pen, higher accuracy is achieved when drawing or processing photographs than with a mouse. Forget about the disappointments that you experienced when processing photos with the mouse, with a graphics tablet you will achieve mastery in processing. Thanks to the graphic tablet, you can easily make all the necessary adjustments to your photos, even the smallest ones, which would be difficult to do with the mouse.

Thirdly, the graphics tablet is pressure sensitive. The mouse has only one level of pressure. Therefore, having a pen in your hands, you can pressure control the level of pressure, creating a different thickness of the brush stroke, from thinner to greasy.

And this is far from the limit of its merits. When processing photos, we basically face similar tasks - you need to adjust the color of the eyes, lips or eyelashes, even out the complexion, give it a blush, change the shape of the hairstyle. Using the mouse to achieve a quick and high-quality result in this is not easy, especially if the photo is complex and has a bunch of small details (for example, remove extra small hairs, beautifully process the fur).

When working with a graphics tablet, the borders of the image feel much more accurately, so you can safely take the Brush tool in the Overlap or Bright light mode and paint over the object. In this case, the pressure sensitivity will be recognized by the program as an adjustment of transparency - the stronger we press, the brighter the paint will fall on the photo and vice versa. And if we need to erase something with an eraser, then without choosing a tool it is possible to do this with the back of the pen, which the Photoshop program automatically recognizes as the Eraser tool (without selecting it additionally on the toolbar).

Summing up, we can say that graphic tablets are an indispensable tool for photographers, designers, digital artists and other computer users who are interested in drawing or processing photos. Personally, I can not imagine my activities without this compact device. And you?
