-Da, la telefon. Nu sunt căsătorită, ați spus-o bine.
-Da… mă bucur pentru asta, dar nu și pentru ce urmează. Știți, mătușa, am găsit-o piatră lângă frigider. A fost acum câteva minute transportată la spital.
Mai întâi stânga, apoi dreapta în care ținea telefonul tremura într-un așa hal încât a coborât la altă stație. Ar mai fi fost nevoie de una pentru a ajunge la Georgian. Nici nu și-a dat seama. Convoiul de oameni a trecut prin ea. Ajunsă la scări s-a rezemat de balustradă.
-Spuneți-mi dacă este bine. Sau în ce stare e?
-I-am luat pulsul noi înainte de a ajunge ambulanța. Ar fi fost mai bine să nu o facem.
-Cum așa?

Tânărul o privea cu atenție. Cei de acolo au chemat-o cică pentru a îi da diagnosticul. ‘Ce diagnostic, auzi, mortu e mort, nu mai ai ce diagnostic să îi dai’ își repeta cuvântul ‘diagnostic’ parcă l-ar fi încadrat printre versuri. ‘Medici tâmpiți’ și a răsuflat parcă mai ușurată.
-Știți domnișoara Andreea, dânsă, mătușa dvs., a lăsat testament. Am găsit o scrisorică pe masă. Felicitări, ați fost aleasă, moment în care doctorul a bătut-o prietenește cu palma dreaptă peste umărul ei stâng.
Privea bulversată. În stânga stătea mătușa întinsă pe o targă cu cearceaf alb și dacă n-ai fi știut că e moartă ai fi zis că dormea. Avea încă ceva fard pe obraji. Pe de altă parte, în cap i se învărteau planuri de viitor. Parcă toate eforturile ei începeau să prindă glas și culoare. Viața suna din nou bine și a spus.
-Să vă aduc niște apă, a spus doctorul trezind-o din reverie.
Nici nu a apucat să răspundă că el era deja în fața ei cu un pahar mic plin cu apă, iar în cealaltă mână cu o foaie și un pix.
-Așteptăm și pe soț? E vorba de autopsie, necesită semnături.
-Nu sunt căsătorită. Voi semna eu, și atât.
-Perfect, atunci poftiți foaia. Mai bine pe colțul peretelui, să nu semnă totuși pe targă lângă mort. Poate nu-i semn bun.
A luat-o ușor cu leșin, apoi durere de stomac. Mai era și libidinos doctorul ăsta. Însă nu a comentat. A pus foaia pe perete și s-a semnat. Apoi împreună cu medicul au mai discutat ce mai era nevoie înainte de a o înmormânta. Ieșită din metrou la Stefan cel Mare a aruncat un ochi la 7 pentru a stabili dacă lumina era aprinsă. Mai mult, era chiar și geamul deschis, deși afară degetele ți-ar fi degerat în niciun minut. Interfonul fusese spart de-a dreptul. Parcă cineva cu furie i-a tras un mare bolovan. Se mai întâmpla asta când avea Dinamo meci. Când și-a scos cheia și a încercat să o bage în ială s-a trezit de partea cealaltă cu un bărbat solid cu vreo jumătate de cap mai înaltă ca ea care avea peste un metru șaptezeci. I-a deschis-o larg și a adăugat luminat de zâmbet.
-Poftiți!
La fel și ea, doar că rece, i-a zâmbit și i-a mulțumit. Dar bărbatul s-a oprit înainte de a ieși și a întrebat-o.
-La ce etaj?
-Cu ce ocazie mă întrebați, i-a răspuns ea la limita unui răspuns politicos. Apoi a continuat pentru a își asigura un urcuș liniștit. 'Am prieten'.

-Îngăduiți-mi măcar să vă ajut să urcați. Nu prea vă văd în stare, sincer. Și a ridicat-o ușor, după care brațul ei stâng l-a trecut pe deasupra gâtului său până în dreptul umărului unde mâna i-a rămas așa, fără să-l atingă, inertă. Cu o voce parcă din tunel l-a întrebat.
-Să înțeleg că vă ocupați de caz?
-Aveți dreptate, așa este, locotenent Buză Cornel. Mi-aș fi dorit, din toată inima vă spun, să ne fi cunoscut în alte circumnstanțe, la o amendă de circulație, administrativă, orice altceva. Îmi pare rău, Dumnezeu să-l aibă în pace!
