Revit and all things BIM
January 16th, 2012, 9:15AM
Good morning all! Below you will find a list of websites, which offer external solutions for Revit. All of these I have tried out myself and would recommend. I’ll try to keep this post updated as the sites change or new ones are created. If there are any other programs/websites which you would advise, then drop me a line, and I will add it to the list. This list was compiled mainly from the All things BIM blog.

Thou shalt obey: The BIMandments
January 14th, 2012, 3:40PM
Over the last week or so, there has been a new trend sweeping through the BIM community on twitter. The idea; sharing your opinions on the most important rules to follow when working with BIM. The #BIMandments as they were so named by @AYBABTM from @case_inc has seen over 50 BIM crazy users tweeting their advice for others, with well over 500 tweets in total.
A Storm is brewing in the Cloud(s)
January 18th, 2012, 8:47AM
I tried out Project Storm with Revit structure for the first time last week. I was impressed at the simplicity of the program. Just like most user friendly BIM software packages, your work load has been cut and for a structural engineer Project Storm can give a solid interpretation of the structural/static analysis of a project.

Just a quick post to let you all know that I will be uploaing a starters guide to Project Vasari and Project Storm over the next few days. If you have not already experimented with them, I will be giving a simple tutorial to follow to get to grips with the programs. From what I have seen both programs are extremely user friendly, working in the Revit Architecture / Structure 2012 interfaces. Look forward to hearing some responses about how everyone else is getting on with Vasari and Storm, and to what practical uses they have been applied! Hope you all have a great day and report back tomorrow for more!

Why do you love BIM?
February 16th, 2012, 9:21AM
"In honor of Valentine’s Day, Cannon Design is launching a creative writing competition for the love of BIM. Everyone in Cannon Design is invited to submit a short piece extolling their love and affection for building information modeling (BIM). The most compelling piece penned by an employee of Cannon Design will win a trip to the Revit Technology Conference (RTC) USA in Stone Mountain Georgia. Those outside Cannon Design are ineligible to win the top prize but are still encouraged to send in their prose. The best submissions will be featured on our firm’s blog."
