Present paper reports some observation on population dynamics of White crested kalij pheasant Lophura leucomelanos hamiltoni in Garhwal Himalaya, Uttarakhand India during November 2007 to April 2009. In 405 sightings, 1772 Kalij were recorded with overall 2.74 density (birds/km). 5.62 group size and 1.34:1.0 sex-ratio between male and female. Significant seasonal variation was also recorded in density and group size. Maximum values of density 10.93+3.46 birds/km in the winter and average group size (7.58+2.08) in the monsoon and post monsoon season were noticed whereas minimum for the same recorded in the summer season. Incidences of hunting were recorded in all the seasons except summer.

It can be seen that the food consumption was comparatively lower during summer which was compensated with higher assimilation. For instance, the consumption with T3 . Banana waste during súmmer season was about 50.0% less than the consumption during rainy season. This lower consumption was compensated by a higher assimilation of 49.0%. Similarly, the consumption with T4 - Mixed feed was about 6.4% less during summer season than during rainy season. This lower consumption was partially compensated by a higher assimilation of 53.2%. However, with T1 - Cattle dung feed the consumption was not significantly lower during summer, still the assimilation was 60.5% highest of all seasons. However, higher consumption during rainy season with T2 - Pressmud resulted in higher assimilation of 47.6% while during summer season it was 43.2%. Food preferences changed with change in the season.

Common mosaic is the most destructive disease of pumpkin in West Bengal, causing a considerable amount of damage to crops. Experiments were conducted on the natural incidence of pumpkin mosaic and their management under the agro-ecological condition of the lateritic zone of West Bengal during the season of 2015-2016.An incidence range of 16.85% -61.16% common mosaic and a range of 8.25% - 18.10% incidence of yellow vein mosaic were observed according to the location and variety. The impact of a standard mosaic of pumpkin was found to be significantly influenced by changing the date of sowing. Late sowing of crop significantly reduced the disease and reached at the minimum level of 29.60% in the field which was sown after 30 days late of the scheduled time of sowing i.e. the second week of November.

The lady beetle and its developmental stages are dependent on the availability of the aphid food, which may only grow, when the specific food crop is available in the field. Thus, in nature a very regular and specific change and their interrelationship among host plants, aphid pests and the predator Coccinella septempunctata Linn. exist during mid July to April due to prevailing suitable condition in Saharanpur (the specific area of the work). Simultaneous, occurrence of the host plants in the field is a bio-indicator of the seasonal prevalence of the notorious aphid pests and predatory lady beetle population, depending on the suitability of the climatic condition. Thus, the growth of the host plant in the field indicate appearance of aphids which act as prey for the predator C. septempunctata.

A field survey to study the prevalence of root knot nematode infection in vegetable crops was conducted in five districts of Chhattisgarh from December 2006 to November 2007.  Soil and root samples from 42 farmlands belonging to 28 villages were collected using standard methods along with information on factors affecting root knot nematodes, such as, topographical features, soil texture and methods of irrigation and control. Isolation of the nematodes from the soil and root samples was done using Cobb’s Sieving and decanting method and modified Baermann funnel technique. Identification of nematodes was done microscopically by examination of perineal patterns of females. Population density of nematodes was determined per 10 gram of root sample and 200cc of soil sample.
